Common questions
Is the school profile and website really free?
Yes. Every approved school gets a public profile on its state directory and a website at schoolname.schoolsite.ng at no cost. The full school management system is an optional paid upgrade.
How does a state get its own SEMS portal?
A state ministry of education requests a portal through this page. We set it up at statename.sems.ng, import the school directory and train the ministry team.
My school is listed but the details are wrong — what do I do?
Open your school on the state directory and click "Claim this school". Once approved you can update every detail and publish your website.
Can we use our own domain name?
Yes. From the school admin go to Settings → Custom Domain, add the DNS records shown and SEMS issues an HTTPS certificate automatically.
Who can see school data?
Public profiles show only directory information. Student, staff and financial records live in the school's own isolated database and are visible only to authorised school users.
